you should add anything by Maggie Stiefvater to your list for young adult fiction, she is an up and coming author and has two series out now. There's Lament and Ballad which are about musicians interations with irish faeries. Then there's Shiver which is about werewolves who turn based on temperature, the sequel to that is coming out in july called linger.

I loved The Book Whisperer, and second Stefanie's recommendation for Maggie Stiefvater- my students actually introduced me to her books.
